We want to transform the wall on the eastern side of the building with a Remembrance tribute.
Working with local businesses, B Line Design and S.L Creations, members of the Executive gave their feedback on draft designs. The preferred design is being updated for a second review and we'll bring you more news as the project progresses.
Our 2025 Executive Board was installed recently. These people are committed to making our Legion a welcoming and supportive place for our existing and soon to be members.
Our Executive Board's aims are always aligned with the Royal Canadian Legion mission to making a difference in the lives of Veterans and their families, providing essential services in our communities, and remembering the men and women who sacrificed for our country.
Get to know these wonderful people. Our Ladies Auxiliary Board for 2025
The Ladies Auxiliary support and fundraising activities are really appreciated. They're an integral part of our Legion and their dedication to our members, Veterans and the wider community is second to none.
Say hello, in no particular order, to Joan, Darlene, Koreen, Mary, Rose, Ruth and Teri.
At the stroke of noon on 15 February, 1965, Canada’s red and white maple leaf flag was raised for the very first time on Parliament Hill. On the same day in 1996, National Flag of Canada Day was declared.
Our national flag is a symbol that unites Canadians and reflects the common values we take pride in — democracy, inclusion and equity.
On 15 February, let’s celebrate 60 years of our Canadian flag!
Two absolute stalwarts of our Legion, John and Tom have been awarded the King Charles III Coronation medal. Confirmation came through from the BC/Yukon Command today.
Both John and Tom are Forces and Legion veterans, serving their country and continuing to serve as our Service and Cadet Liaison Officers.
Many, many congratulations to John and Tom; the award was thoroughly deserved and great recognition for your service. We're very proud to have you both as members of our Branch.
The next Maple Ridge General Meeting will be on Sunday, December 15th.
It's an important one as it's the time of year when we vote for who will make up our next Executive Board. If you're a member with voting rights, please join us and help choose the 2025 Executive.
Please remember to bring your membership card to be able to vote.
Oh, and we have a special meet draw as well - The 12 Turkeys of Christmas.
The Maple Ridge Legion, Ladies Auxiliary (L.A.) Executive Board
Today, December 5th is International Volunteer Day. It’s a day that recognizes the efforts of volunteers in transforming their societies, economies, and environment.
We want to give a shout out to a group of ladies in our Legion that through their volunteering make a difference to both the Branch and the local community.
The Ladies Auxiliary has been serving up perogies for over 15 years and cabbage rolls for about 6 years. The ladies organize celebrations of life, Christmas bakes sale and weekly meat draws. The money raised supports Legion members and the community at large.
We'll be telling you more about our L.A in the next newsletter, but for now, let's simply celebrate what they bring to our Branch.
When you see a Ladies Auxiliary member, please thank them for all they do. They truly make a difference.
